The End of the Internet!?
Deathclock
There is a film from 2009 called ‘Countdown’ – it tells you how long you have left to live. In this somewhat creepy film, the protagonist only has 3 hours left according to the app… Yes, the film was too weird to be good.
And yet: there is such an app now. Fuelled by training data from long-term studies on longevity, it is now an extremely popular ‘fitness app’. And it’s even called ‘Death Clock’. Bloomberg has reported that the app will also have a wider impact in business and finance. But of course! Every life insurance company, health insurance company and even lenders will be happy to calculate the probable death of their customers for perfect risk assessment.
I don’t think I would want to use such an app. The risk seems too high to me that my data could be misused for purposes I don’t want.
