Goodbye Sora, here comes Tencent Hunyuan Video
On December 3rd 2024, Tencent launched Hunyuan Video in China – as an open source version of a powerful text to video converter. Powerful is actually an understatement, because the stability of the characters as well as the detailed resolution and uncompromising realisation of prompts make this AI the strongest ever.
I think Open AI will have to come up with a quick release for Sora. And one that offers the same quality. While Sora got lost in announcements about all the things they wanted to test and even the test subjects went on strike, China simply went ahead. And the bar is extremely high. The mere fact that the characters are now stable and persistent in a video makes it possible for even a total layman to create an entire film for free. Now there is cinema design for everyone.
